Roaches
In San Diego there are three main types of roaches that we deal with,
they are the German Roach, the American Roach and the Oriental
Roach. Of the three the German Roach is by far the worst. This
Roach can reproduce very rapidly, and if unchecked you can have an explosion
of cockroaches almost over night. The German Cockroach will eat almost
anything including soap and toothpaste. This roach is identifiable by
the two black stripes going down his back and the rest of his body is
tan in color. This roach is known to cause allergies and spread disease.
So how can we help you? The answer is by using a combination of gel bait,
glue boards and insect growth regulators. The German roach will go to
our bait over almost any other food type but we still need to eliminate
competing food sources. This process can take up to four months to get
a 100% eradication of the German Roach and longer if the problem is really
out of hand before we get there.
For the other two roaches baiting
is sometimes an option but more often than not we spray for these roaches.
Finding the source is key, then treating that area along with spraying
a residual pesticide around the structure. These two roaches are much
more manageable than the German Roach.
Before Treatment
- Remove all items from kitchen cupboards (upper & lower), dishes, cookware, glassware, foodstuff, canned goods, etc...
- Place items on a table and cover them with a sheet. Take all drawers out and turn them upside down on a counter top.
- All kitchen appliances and any other items left on the kitchen floor must be pulled at least 3 feet away from the wall.
- Kitchen counters, stove, oven and range hood must be thoroughly cleaned. It is important that the area be free from grease and other food.
- All cleaning of cupboards, walls and shelves should be done BEFORE treatment occurs.
- Empty medicine cabinets, counter tops and all bathroom cabinets (towels, tissue, toiletries, etc…)
- D&S Termite & Pest Control recommends that all persons vacate the structure for at least 4 hours and until treated areas have dried. Persons with ailing health or pregnant must vacate for 24 hours and/or follow their doctor’s advice.
- Remove all pets for at least a four (4) hour period. Birds must be removed for twenty-four (24) hours.
- Aquariums should be sealed off with plastic wrapping, and the filter turned off for a four (4) hour period.
After Treatment
- Upon returning to the premises, open windows for a short period of time. Thoroughly ventilating treated areas following the application can reduce potential odors.
- Turn aquarium filter back on.
- Wipe down countertops. DO NOT wipe down inside of cabinets.
