Before
Treatment:
Pick
up all clothing and toys from the floor making as much
carpet accessible as possible. Take any throw rugs into
kitchen or non-carpeted area. Vacuum all carpet and
rugs, then throw away the vacuum bag to get rid of the
fleas that were vacuumed up. Turn up the cushions on
the couch, remove and wash all bed linens. Don't forget
to wash the pets bedding as well. If you have fish tanks,
turn off the filters and put a wet towel over the top
of the tank. All people, pets and pet toys will need
to be out of the structure for a minimum of four hours.
After four hours, you can test the carpet with a napkin
to see if it is dry, if not, wait another hour and test
it again. Once the carpets are dry it is safe for you
and your pets to re-enter.
After Treatment:
As
soon as you return, vacuum the carpets and throw the
vacuum bag out again. You will be vacuuming up flea
eggs that will hatch and re-infest the house if not
disposed of. If your pets are not already on a flea
management program, now is the time to get them started.
